[…]… ebbene sì, stiamo scrivendo un romanzo che si svolge nel continuum temporale e storico di Q. Lo abbiamo quasi terminato. Uscirà in autunno. Il titolo ancora non c’è, le librerie on line riportano solo “titoli di lavoro”.[…] Nel corso degli anni, abbiamo più volte dichiarato che non avremmo mai scritto un seguito di Q. E, a rigore, va precisato che non si tratta proprio di un seguito. Però è inutile cavillare: abbiamo sentito una nuova esigenza, abbiamo avviato un ripensamento, abbiamo cambiato idea.[…]Ci abbiamo lavorato sopra come muli, a ranghi serratissimi. Gran parte di quello che avete letto di nostro nell’ultimo anno (le riflessioni sull’eroe di WM4, gli appunti sull’epica etc.) erano anche materiali di studio per questo libro. Ora abbiamo imboccato l’ultima discesa di montagne russe, siamo nella parte di romanzo che ci porta all’apice e poi all’epilogo.
Non possiamo sapere se il risultato accontenterà o scontenterà i nostalgici, tra cui non ci annoveriamo. Possiamo però dire che senz’altro sorprenderà, perché è diverso da tutto quel che abbiamo scritto finora. Dopo quest’impresa torneremo sul trittico atlantico, nel mondo esplorato in Manituana e American Parmigiano, nei modi e tempi che decideremo insieme.
Non possiamo sapere se il risultato accontenterà o scontenterà i nostalgici, tra cui non ci annoveriamo. Possiamo però dire che senz’altro sorprenderà, perché è diverso da tutto quel che abbiamo scritto finora.
